Why the reversal: Number of pre-sale didn't reach the numbers they had anticipated while Sony has opened the champagne for hitting their goals.
It is pretty simple. Microsoft might be slow, but unlike game companies like EA, Microsoft actually will follow the gamer/consumer when it comes to enough pressure. Just like Windows 8 and the start key! They will get it right eventually, and that is why I love them for it.

Actually there was a PS3 Emu that worked with 50-60% of the games four years ago I remember. I used it for Final Fantasy, of course glitchy but playable.

PS4 features 1.152 GPU cores compared to the Xbox One’s 768 graphics cores. Sony drives 1.84 TFLOPS compared to the Xbox’s 1.23 TFLOPS. PS4 feature 8GB of 5500MHz GDDR5 memory compared to the Xbox One’s 8GB of 2133MHz DDR3 RAM; PS4 Memory Bandwidth is 176 Gb/s compared to the Xbox 68.3 Gb/s.
Huge difference (way bigger than difference between ps3 and x360) and ps4 is infinitely more dev friendly than ps3

XBOX release info that their hardware will be upgraded before the release to match "consumer expectations". So most likely similar speccs to PS4
