I realize that we have an International community and that some will not be fluent English.

I think the real discouraging factor is writing an essay, and not necessarily any language barriers. I dislike writing essays myself. :p
Although, one should really be thinking of it this way, the fewer people to do it, the worse of an essay you can get away with.

And my essay probably would make zero sense, that's how I roll.
