North Korea ready to strike Mainland US, Hawaii and Guam - cucubelu - Mar 26 2013 You better not strike my beautiful island you sonofabitch (italian accent). Edit: Aljazeera and Scandinavian countries first to report this. Before BBC and American media. /facepalm. North Korea threatens to strike US mainland Puts military on 'combat-ready' status, with rocket units ordered to prepare for strikes on Hawaii, Guam and mainland. Last Modified: 26 Mar 2013 08:28 North Korea has put its military on combat-ready status, with "strategic" rocket units ordered to prepare for possible strikes against the US mainland, Hawaii and Guam, state media reported. The order, issued in a statement from the North's military "supreme command", marks the latest fiery rhetoric from Pyongyang since the start of joint military drills by US and South Korean forces early this month. "The Korea People's Army top command declares that all artillery troops including strategic rocket units and long-range artillery units are to be placed under class-A combat readiness," the Korean Central News Agency said on Tuesday. Despite a successful long-range rocket launch in December, most experts believe North Korea is years from developing a genuine inter-continental ballistic missile that could strike the continental United States. Hawaii and Guam would also be outside the range of its medium-range missiles, which would be capable, however, of striking US military bases in South Korea and Japan. No signs of buildup South Korea's defence ministry said it had detected no signs of unusual activity by the North's military but will monitor the situation. The South and the US military are conducting drills until the end of April, which they have stressed are strictly defensive in nature. While existing agreements provide for US engagement in the event of a full-scale conflict, the new protocol addresses the response to a limited provocation such as an isolated incident of cross-border shelling. It guarantees US support for any South Korean retaliation and allows Seoul to request any additional US military force it deems necessary. North Korea shelled a South Korean border island in November 2010, killing four people. Hong Lei, a spokesman for the Chinese foreign ministry, called for restraint shortly after North Korea issued the threat Source: http://www.aljazeera.com/news/asia-pacific/2013/03/20133266419350867.html RE: North Korea ready to strike Mainland US, Hawaii and Guam - Knowpain - Mar 26 2013 I smell WW3  RE: North Korea ready to strike Mainland US, Hawaii and Guam - Spartacus - Mar 26 2013 pepper your angus US of A! Even China is giving less and less support to North Korea as time goes on and their military is still using equipment from the sixties. Seriously, who would come to their aid at this point if they started a war? Iran? Venezuela? They're a sad country that has been hanging by a thread for years. I'm certain that they could do significant damage to Seoul due to the sheer amount of artillery they have aimed at it, but I doubt that they have any counter measures for the air support that the United States would provide. Lastly, South Korea has the economy to recover from a war; North Korea doesn't. Maybe North Korea's leaders are stupid enough to not know this, but I highly doubt that they could have kept the country from falling into civil war as long as they have if they were. Iran are their allies already. As for China, true China can't risk an open war as their economy (and the rest of the worlds) has such an inter-dependence of each other. Russia has however started taking over the "big brother" and Putin has on occasions said that any act against North Korea won't stand. Whether they will sell the weaponry like what is happening in Syria or if it will come in other kind of support is the question. As for North Korea itself, it is getting pushed harder and harder into a corner, and eventually, like any rabid animal out there it will be forced to do something with whatever it has. Russia has always considered themselves opposite of US, and if they can hurt US by trading, or helping North Korea they will. Especially under Putin... RE: North Korea ready to strike Mainland US, Hawaii and Guam - joker8baller - Mar 27 2013 They won't risk it. Bigger risk comes from the other Asian countries like China making a move of Japan, and Japan ramping up with a 23% increase in their military spending... even though they gave up war after WWII. RE: North Korea ready to strike Mainland US, Hawaii and Guam - Lieutenant Josh - Mar 27 2013 Eh, no North Korea won't do it, well at least if they have any brains left in their military. Though, either if they really are that desperate(or stupid) or the Chubby Son of Kim Jong Il thinks War is a game, then they might do it. In the long run however North Korea would lose. Russia won't commit anything in terms of actual troops or fighting, arms sure, the military tech between the two countries is compatible so its not hard for a North Korean soldier to drive a Russian made tank. China risks the whole world's condemnation if it so much as sniffs North Korea's ass, this whole "New China" thing would all go down the drain should they back NK. As has also been stated above about their Economy and such. |
