This has probably been asked before, and I probably sound stupid asking, but how can I disable the PUG notifications such as ".need 4", for example? I normally don't care, but notifications make my PS3 emulator crash for whatever reason. Any help?

Yeah those popups are from the PUG group. Leave if you don't wanna see em, you cant disable them as far as I know :/

I don't think steam events show when your status is set to busy.
