There's been a massive chilling effect since Megaupload got raided and knocked offline. It's damn near impossible to get a decent direct download anywhere out there. Pair that with DMCA take-down notices that are the common result of downloading via torrent and it makes it wicked hard to file share in the US right now without paying out of pocket for a proxy service or something. It's total bullshit.

They blacked out for SOPA, but other than that, no, wikipedia has nothing to do with this.
