Either way, I already know I'm stupid and I already fixed the problem. This happened about six months ago so it doesn't really grind on me any more. I just posted this so maybe someone else with computer problems can avoid this problem in the future. RE: Why fix it when you can buy a new one? - naive - May 19 2012 I knew the RAM was a problem from the first sentence :/ There are normally accompanying beeps or indicator lights for proc failure, and if it was a GPU issue, you can normally still tell the HDDs are spinning up. It's normally pretty easy to borrow a stick of ram too and swap it.
