(GET) Frets on Fire - naive - May 24 2012

If you have or can access a ps3 guitar hero controller, you can play all songs from all guitar hero and rockband games and more for free with it on your PC!

It's what I normally do to bide my time when waiting for a csConfused patch for example.

I found a nyko guitar hero 3 usb guitar for five dollars. On windows 7 I didn't need drivers, I just use it as a joystick and use JoyToKey to bind joystick buttons to keys.  Just run joytokey, select the PS3 config file I provided, then go into FoFix and set up a new controller. Just hit each appropriate button on the right keys and you have a working usb guitar.

This is the config file I used for it. http://www.sendspace.com/file/alvh9a

There is a sweet guitar hero clone that you can download tons of custom songs and play pretty much all songs from the game, they have been ported. I am using a a version of Frets on Fire called FoFix because it actually works on windows 7. It can be found here http://code.google.com/p/fofix/.

As for songs, you can download a bunch from the pirate bay. Search for 'frets' there, you will see many. Or just try this torrent http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/4020137/Guitar_Hero_I-II-Encore-III___song_pack_for_Frets_on_Fire.  If you've overplayed all guitar hero game already, there are hardcore custom songs also, and tons of user made content. You can check some out here. http://fretsonfire.wikidot.com

Enjoy.
