Ban Appeal; CATHOLIC PRIEST - CATHOLIC PRIEST - Jul 03 2012 Name: CATHOLIC PRIEST SteamID: STEAM_0:1:16257800 I was on the D2 24/7 server and was told my name was offensive. I rejoined and informed the admin that there is no server rule against names and was kicked once more. I joined the server again, reviewed the rules once more and informed him again. I was then banned. There were many people on the server with far more offensive names such as "Vaginal Belch" but they received not even a warning. RE: Ban Appeal; CATHOLIC PRIEST - M. Bison - Jul 04 2012 The ban is valid. There's a lot of borderline names/behavior and it's admin discretion whether or not to enforce in these situations. Basically, we're pretty lax most of the time and won't take action unless it's serious or someone complains. The admin decided to take action and you were given ample warning beforehand to change your name. Ignoring an admin is against the rules and also worthy of ban. You're supposed to comply with any "official" requests of an admin. If they go "too far" you should comply or leave until you're able to report them to me. Any and all claims of admin abuse will be thoroughly investigated and if found true the admin will be severely reprimanded. You decided to disregard server rules and it has earned you a ban. rules Wrote:Inappropriate language or names RE: Ban Appeal; CATHOLIC PRIEST - Moriarty - Jul 04 2012 I wouldn't ban for this name unless someone told me that he/she is offended. If I receive report from at least one person, I normally ask people to change their name. If they do not change it after my request, I kick/ban. Reason: "ignoring admins". Simple as that. RE: Ban Appeal; CATHOLIC PRIEST - CATHOLIC PRIEST - Jul 04 2012 So Admins get to make up new rules of their own volition? There is no rule against offensive names or even offensive text for that matter. As such I saw no reason that I should obey an admin who is clearly abusing his power when he is trying to enforce a non existent rule. RE: Ban Appeal; CATHOLIC PRIEST - -[ex]iSpy- - Jul 04 2012 I warned you many times before the kick/ban. i would not ask you to do such thing if its not against the rules. Im an upper Admin my self and i found your IGN offensive, i received complaints via pm. I unbanned you for now, and Watch your Language on All Wl's servers too. RE: Ban Appeal; CATHOLIC PRIEST - Lieutenant Josh - Jul 04 2012 Yeah thats pretty much why you got banned, not the name dude, not the name. I dont think you read the rules either dude, its been very clearly comprehensively and often, enforced rules on Names, swear not in moderation, and general chat spamming. Im gonna restate what i said in the other thread. Also, did like a page when you got onto the server not appear in front of you that stated the server rules etc? or are you just trying to be an ass about rules that about 99.99% of the community knows and has agreed upon as the unequivocal server rules? RE: Ban Appeal; CATHOLIC PRIEST - annie - Jul 04 2012 I was in this game when this player was on. A lot of offensive mic spamming from this player in general as well. They don't "make up" their own rules. They simply decide when it's time to "step in" and deal with the situation when it gets out of hand. We're not trying to run some kind of police state/highly censored server where no one can express themselves. In fact, we generally don't mind as long as it isn't getting out of hand and causing problems. Anyway, be more cautious of our policies or you'll find yourself banned. RE: Ban Appeal; CATHOLIC PRIEST - CATHOLIC PRIEST - Jul 04 2012 iSpy, all I saw on the server were players agreeing with me and in fact you banned one for doing so. General Josh I would screenshot the rules on the MOTD for you but, you know, I'm banned. Suffice it to say there are only 2 rules neither of which deal with names. Annie I was not mic spamming, I actually used my mic very little and it was mainly for calling out positions of enemies. Bison I read the rules on the MOTD and even visited this website but on a quick glance could not find a set of rules here. I heard zero complaints from others I was playing with and when I was told my name is offensive I actually had a few people come over mic laughing at the idea of it being offensive. As I said earlier, there was a guy on the server with the name of "Vaginal Belch" and yet that somehow is less offensive? I have enjoyed this server since returning to CSS but the idea of being banned for an offensive name when there is no rule on the MOTD about it and when others with far more offensive names are not bothered leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Does this in any way seem logical to you? RE: Ban Appeal; CATHOLIC PRIEST - M. Bison - Jul 04 2012 I don't understand your argument in the slighest. You were told to change your name by an admin. This is a person whose been tasked with the purpose of enforcing the rules to the letter. Why would you think you know the rules better than them and disregard their warnings?
