Full Version: Custom CSS game mode Counter-Strike Clutch

Hey everybody, I'm a long time mod maker for HL and HL2, and I like to play on your CSS DM server. I've joined your community so I could show you my own made CSS custom game mode called Counter-Strike Clutch.

What is CS Clutch? It's a new game mode made through Hammer coding, and a custom made map contained in a single map file.

How does it play? Clutch is made to be a faster way to play Counter-Strike, by discouraging camping due to shorter round times, and throwing players into an immediate conflict. It also introduces random spawn points for teams, moving bombsites, and a ready room for players to quickly talk strategy.

Why is it called Clutch? Because there is a clutch position every round for 1 CT player. The clutch position is of most importance, for they have the choice of being first to influence a round.

How does a round play out? All players spawn in a ready room awaiting teleportation to a random team spawn location.Terrorists spawn closer to a bombsite than the Counter-Terrorists do. However, the CT's have a clutch position teammate who is inside the bombsite already who can attempt to 1v5 and delay a bomb plant, kill as many as possible before dying, or retreat until the rest of the team comes. The round restarts in 60 seconds (not finalized) so players are encouraged to play aggressively, especially considering the bomb is planted right away almost every round. When the round ends, the players are then spawned to a different section of the map. Both teams spawn relative to one another, and the map is always entirely accessible.

I want this game mode to become very popular and played competitively, much in the way that Dota has changed WC3, I believe I can create a change for Counter-Strike. I plan to release it with a total conversion pack that changes virtually everything in the game that can be changed to give a new experience to match the game mode.

I am going to need just a few testers, having mod experience is a bonus. I'm also interested in this community promoting the game mode and having a popular fun server with it. Beta testing starts after the thanks giving holiday. If interested let me know in this thread.

It does sound interesting. I would like to see how this plays.
If you got servers, I'll beta test this for you. It does sound kinda like KOTH game mode though, but CS:S doesn't have that.

Hey everyone, just an update. I've been hard at work completing the maps gameplay, and I have transitioned into sectioned art passes. This is the second floor of the castle, and it has received its first art pass. I have used 100% stock CSS and HL2 materials and it hasn't been testing yet.

I haven't received much interest yet. If this community would really like to stand behind this project, I thought maybe it would be a good idea to test the map out with quite a bit of people on the death match mode. This map would be amazing in death match mode for I have designed it in such a way that is is more of a sandbox than a map like dust2. What I mean is getting from the 1st floor to the 4th means you can take probably more than 10 routes easily.

I will be detailing the next section shortly, and feedback until then is appreciated.

The SS's look pretty good, when you're ready to trial it out I'm sure we can chuck it on one of our servers.
