Maybe it's your internet, because I get zero lag on WarLords, and no lag on Facebook...so yeah.

KnightRider, theoretically, deleting users would indeed make the site faster, as deleting users = less junk in the SQL tables :
If you designed your SQL tables, queries, and indices correctly, the amount of users should not affect the query times (more than a negligible amount.) Unless by theoretical you meant negligible.
