Their studies are for the most part correct. The problem being we have all worn shoes at some point. For the benefits of barefoot running to come into affect you have to never wear shoes. The issue you run into is after a few years of no support you will pronate (your arch will fall) severly. Thus creating other knee and hip issues. Our body's weren't ment to live ad long as we do now. It doesn't really matter what you do in the long run everything is bad for u.

Doubt it. If you run barefoot or even midfoot with minimalist shoes I'd argue that you're less likely to develop knee, hip, and arch problems. We don't run everywhere and most normal people will still wear boots with good arch support during a normal workday. Running isn't an all day activity for most people trying to stay in shape. The benefits of running midfoot though will (should?) outweigh the possible negatives of running heel strike even with proper shoes.

I do wear boots and run midfoot and don't have problems stemming from either. This is after years of wearing sneakers and running heel strike. Both have also helped with the arthritis in my ankle.

the shoes we wear shape our feet. heels in my opinion are never worth it to wear. this applies to the ladies of course..and riser.
