RE: Smartest person on wL - silly - Dec 28 2011 I agree with spartacus and mawped about our subjective views of intelligence (i.e. "beauty/intelligence is in the eye of the beholder"), although I think that there would probably be some degree of statistical objectivity involved (when specific criteria are used). I think that someone also had a good point about the standard IQ test not being a very representative measure for all kinds of intelligence. Oh, and spartacus, what do you mean by too cerebral? Also, I wonder if you've heard the saying "on the internet, everyone has aspergers". Quote:"If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough" -Albert EinsteinYou know, just because Einstein said this doesn't mean that it's automatically true. There are some things which aren't very simple at all, and which may need very in depth explanations for them to be properly understood. Ru, I interpret your quote to mean that some people pretend to be intelligent around others, while some people are just intelligent whether or not others are around. But I don't think that your stereotype about intelligent people usually being overweight is very accurate. I don't think I'm "the smartest person on wl", but I think that: I'm pretty good with logic http://philosophychatforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=19303 and science, but I suck at all types of maths except statistics. In regards to linguistic intelligence: I used to write poetry a couple of years ago, and I think that I was starting to get pretty good at it: Quote:"Dreamer" I'm hopeless with "Spatial Intelligence". That's the sort of thing that bananaman and remix are good at, in my opinion. For "Musical Intelligence":Rival has written a really good song for the guitar. I'm ok with improvising on the piano, but I can't do much else musically: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxIT2gsp ... XJB7LsJ3wR For "Bodily-Kinesthetic Intelligence": I was good at football and athletics (back in high school, haha), not that good at many other sports (terrible at basketball). For "Interpersonal Intelligence" and "Intrapersonal Intelligence", it's actually these two that I think I am very good with (and they are part of the reason that I want to be a counselling psychologist). RE: Smartest person on wL - ruplayer - Dec 28 2011 I did not mean to say overweight, I meant to say soft, in other words person that's hardly defending, hardly accepts tuff challenges, etc. Quote:and spartacus, what do you mean by too cerebral?Cerebral edema or cerebral œdema is an excess accumulation of water in the intracellular or extracellular spaces of the brain. He called you retard. RE: Smartest person on wL - Spartacus - Dec 28 2011 cerebral: formal definition demanding careful reasoning and mental effort rather than feelings http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/british/cerebral Is Obama too cerebral? http://hnn.us/articles/116297.html silly Wrote:Oh, and spartacus, what do you mean by too cerebral? What I meant was I felt that sometimes your posts sounded too academical or intellectual, without taking much thought of the hoi polloi( common people) who are going to read it. It could be because you've participated in the philosophy forums where you meet like-minded people and that particular identity sticks with you here in this forums as well. However, I feel that it's a useful skill to have if you intend to be a counselling psychologist. Which makes sense really. Yeah spartacus, I guess it's partly habit from the other forums that I've been on. Which language is "hoi polloi" from? RE: Smartest person on wL - M. Bison - Dec 29 2011 SpartanOnLSD Wrote:Assembly language isn't that hard. LolI would disagree with you there. It's extremely difficult at times to keep track of what's going on in very big projects coded in assembly. Big corporations like Microsoft don't even find it practical to code everything exclusively in assembly, which would typically be heavily optimized and considerably faster.
