No way I'm getting both.
I've heard of some lag issues in multiplayer gameplay for both games. I'll set up a list of pros and cons for both games. Will keep on modifying it when inputs from other people come in.
Battlefield 3
Pros
More Realistic
More Strategic
More Teamwork
Ability to Pilot and drive various vehicles
Ability to destroy buildings
Less Asshats playing this game
Cons
Using an EA client(to each his own)
Singleplayer Storyline is lame
Like its predecessors, snipers class are in favor more than other classes
Modern Warfare 3
Pros
More Online Modes
Weapons and Player Levels are Independent of each other
Singleplayer Storyline is original
Cons
Killstreaks could be overpowered
Community have asshats in them
Details and weapons similar to predecessors

You need to move this thread to flamez section, cuz it feels like we're a bit handcuffed here, especially with the name of the thread.
BF3 has co-op mode! RUSH/TDM/CONQUEST why do you need more?
You're wrong about Recon class.

I'm more inclined to buy BF3 looking from a gameplay perspective. I already have Black Ops anyway too.

I had almost all the Battle Field releases, & i played them all, and all were Great, none was bad.
& BF3 is AWESOME!

I prefer mw3, Most people like bf3 better.
mw3 is the same old shit as mw2, but i like mw2
The single player is fucking amazing. Story line of the gods imo. And i prefer to solo player clutch status and combat style of CoD rather than the mass teamwork and huge battlefields of bf3
