First off, if i was to organize the tournament the earliest it could happen would be the 16th of May (because of college, mainly), if anyone else want to organize it and make it sooner please manifest yourself, it ain't that complicated, especially if you communicate with bison for the private servers, i will post the potential format that i think would work the best in the current state of (wL) and if we take into consideration what we learned from the previous tournaments.

Map pool could be similar to the other tournaments :

de_dust2, de_cpl_strike, de_cache, de_season, de_nuke, de_inferno, de_tuscan, de_contra, de_russka, de_train (de_scorch ?).

Standard rules of (wL), typical league rules and tournament specific rules, like the previous tournaments would be in effect during the tournament.

Ideally the hour the tournament would start should take into account that we have many east coast, central and west coast players, in other words, that it shouldnt end too late for east coast players and it shouldnt start too soon for west coast players.

Im mainly making this post to make you guys know and have fun with it, ill make a leaderboard about it pretty soon.

Also just so you guys know, bison fixed the hsp on your weapon stats, before it was a kill related statistics (if the kill was an headshot or not), now it is a hit related hs stats, meaning that it will count what % of your hits are headshots, which is basicly the same calculation as on your pug stats profile.

Im sure you guys noticed the new adr stats on each games played on the website, its use is to confirm that the 5k 4k 3k 2k 1k 0k were accurate, example : 5k but no 350+ or 450 + adr round, probably means its not worth downloading (even more if there is no clutches in said pug, or on that particular round). It is basicly a huge time saving stats for those players still downloading demos and making edits. Also it covers the 0k weakness of only considering kills (obviously), sometimes you actually did enough damage to be noted !

I also discovered a way to calculate real rws the ESEA way, ill be making a thread about that pretty soon (about how to make the calc for yourself) and a leaderboard related to it. Other new features are also in development.

But i digress ...

To determine what type of events you guys want and also what features you guys would want to be added to better the competitive aspect of wL in general.

- The amount of players responding to the poll / commenting on the thread will be used to limit the size of events we might hold.

-- The options are ranked subjectively following what im the most motivated to help doing to the less.

--- The goal of each option is to make scrimming popular again and try to keep the amount of competitive players relatively high on (wL). And obviously have fun !

Option 1 (Need 30 players + showing interest)

Doing a mix between a ladder and a regular league season.

You guys could mount a team like in the good old days, you wouldnt be restricted by scheduling every god damn week, but you would need to face off every team registered at least x amount of time before the end of the season time span. You guys can play the same team multiple times during the same season for whatever map you guys voted in pregame, it wont count as 15 wins and 3 defeats (the w-t-l will still be shown), the score of each games will be averaged, who ever is leading on that average will get the ranking point over the other team. That way of ranking teams could create potentially healthy rivalries between similar level teams during weeks or months.

Once the season time span is over, the ranks teams achieved during the ladder/season will be used to make the seeding for a tournament, if we get enough teams, maybe the worse teams wont be able to qualify for the tournament for time saving purposes. Again the format of the tournament will heavily depend on how many teams compete, if we have only 6-8 teams participating in the ladder/league, it could be done in 1 day/weekend of bo3's between teams. If we get more, we will need to either eliminate more teams, or make 2 tournaments (Top teams, Fun teams).

Option 2 (Need 20 players + showing interest)

Doing 1 tournament for each weather seasons like it was planned

Our original first tournament was in December (Winter), the 2nd was in April (Spring) and the 3rd we made was in Summer (we also tried to do a 4th event, but it wasn't a tournament), i really liked the idea of having a 1 weekend or 2 tournaments every now and then, using the weather seasons seemed like a good idea also, to give us some breaks from it. I'm not closed to the idea of making these again, but sadly it wasn't enough for people to make scrims in between tournaments, despite the changes bison made to the private servers to make them available at any time.

That being said, we know we had at least 6 teams every time we made 1 of these, so we know the interest was there and we kept improving since the first tournament.

Option 3 (Need 15 players + showing interest)

Doing 10 mens every weekend

We already tried implementing these through the 10 rws + restricted servers, the scrim service old thread that didnt get much interest and a bit before the first tournament. The problem with these is it's 100% unorganized, no teams, no schedule, nothing, it's basicly a pug but between people that appreciate each others, not randoms.

It sounds great in theory, these were awesome back in the days when scrimming was the norm, now having 10 decent players that like each other, online at the same time, is pretty rare.

What we could do with this is creating a restrictive list, that people could sign up in by posting on the would be forum thread, only players of  minimum"x" amount of RWS will be included and only players without recent manual bans could join in (so no trolls, toxic players, etc.). And set an hour on Friday, Saturday Sunday (or only 1 of the 3), where you would need to join up a discord channel to make the teams (captains at random, no rws cap) ... you guys could play whatever amount of games with the same teams made on the same day or re-do captains for every game.

- But it would be very strict in schedule ... which we ALL know is not (wL) players forte.
- And a lot less meaningful then a league/ladder or big tournaments
- And without the fun of 10 mens.

- Im not sure it would be in (wL) best interests to make a big prize pot, i think it would be a motive for people to buy cheats and drama will inevitably follow, sure there will be backgrounds checks and only players who have played either here or on esea will be allowed, but regulars or ex-eseaers could still buy some cheats for quick $.

- If we get a ladder/league going, COMP stats will be a thing, since the amount of matches, scrims, 10 mens and else will justify the effort put in by our staff. A leaderboard specific to the ladder/league  will also be a thing (top KPG, ADR, RWS, Clutches, Multiple Frags, Team Rankings, Teams W-T-L).

- Teams could be modified during 3/4 of the season, each team could have a team manager (captain), but i think it would be more fair if teams made in-group votes to accept or kick someone from a team, obviously anyone could leave their team anytime they want.

- Teams would be restricted to 8 players, 5 players in the roster 5, 3 back ups. If there is any outside of team subs in the beginning of a particular match the result of said match will not count for the season ranking, any matches where you start with 5 team members you need to end it with 5 team members (not necessarly the sames), outside of teams subs won't be allowed if someone has to go to.

Doing a mix between a ladder and a regular league season.

You guys could mount a team like in the good old days, you wouldnt be restricted by scheduling every god damn week, but you would need to face off every team registered at least x amount of time before the end of the season time span. You guys can play the same team multiple times during the same season for whatever map you guys voted in pregame, it wont count as 15 wins and 3 defeats (the w-t-l will still be shown), the score of each games will be averaged, who ever is leading on that average will get the ranking point over the other team. That way of ranking teams could create potentially healthy rivalries between similar level teams during weeks or months.

Once the season time span is over, the ranks teams achieved during the ladder/season will be used to make the seeding for a tournament, if we get enough teams, maybe the worse teams wont be able to qualify for the tournament for time saving purposes. Again the format of the tournament will heavily depend on how many teams compete, if we have only 6-8 teams participating in the ladder/league, it could be done in 1 day/weekend of bo3's between teams. If we get more, we will need to either eliminate more teams, or make 2 tournaments (Top teams, Fun teams).

Option 2 (Need 20 players + showing interest)

Doing 1 tournament for each weather seasons like it was planned

Our original first tournament was in December (Winter), the 2nd was in April (Spring) and the 3rd we made was in Summer (we also tried to do a 4th event, but it wasn't a tournament), i really liked the idea of having a 1 weekend or 2 tournaments every now and then, using the weather seasons seemed like a good idea also, to give us some breaks from it. I'm not closed to the idea of making these again, but sadly it wasn't enough for people to make scrims in between tournaments, despite the changes bison made to the private servers to make them available at any time.

That being said, we know we had at least 6 teams every time we made 1 of these, so we know the interest was there and we kept improving since the first tournament.

Option 3 (Need 15 players + showing interest)

We already tried implementing these through the 10 rws + restricted servers, the scrim service old thread that didnt get much interest and a bit before the first tournament. The problem with these is it's 100% unorganized, no teams, no schedule, nothing, it's basicly a pug but between people that appreciate each others, not randoms.

It sounds great in theory, these were awesome back in the days when scrimming was the norm, now having 10 decent players that like each other, online at the same time, is pretty rare.

What we could do with this is creating a restrictive list, that people could sign up in by posting on the would be forum thread, only players of  minimum"x" amount of RWS will be included and only players without recent manual bans could join in (so no trolls, toxic players, etc.). And set an hour on Friday, Saturday Sunday (or only 1 of the 3), where you would need to join up a discord channel to make the teams (captains at random, no rws cap) ... you guys could play whatever amount of games with the same teams made on the same day or re-do captains for every game.

So i always wanted to make fragmovies, but never had time, or priotized actually playing or organizing tournaments over editing.

I'd be interested to start working on a community fragmovie about (wL) in about 1 month, i'm telling you guys in advance so that players interested in being into it, can start downloading demos they have epic frags on (with rounds saved somewhere or ticks).

I downloaded a massive amount of demo's of myself lately, to find my best frags and mount a fragmovie of myself, to test different types of editing, quality of videos, in-game configurations (etc.) in view to use the optimal settings for the bigger project. Thats why i'll start working on the community video in 1 month (optimistically).

So if you guys want to be in it, here are my criterias :

Frags should be impressive on their own to be in a fragmovie

Rule of thumb 1 :

2 cuts : Only for 5 kills impressive enough (in competitions, or in 1vs4/5)
1 cut : Only for 4 or 5k again impressive enough or in clutch situation

(I will prioritize 0 cut frags since they are generally more impressive)

I will not include 1k, 2k, 3k's except if they are something you wouldnt see in a 4 or 5k. Why ? Because they feel like the cheaper versions of a cooler thing and because they need again to be impressive enough to compete with the rest of the movie frags.

Clean flicks, Clean no scopes, multikills, jumping/falling kills, extremely far kill(s) and/or extremely fast kills or any combinations of these categories IN

Spraydowns, spammings, AWP kills (except no scopes/multikills), random taping + everything else you see in 4/5ks OUT

You guys need to mark the exact round where the cool frag happened, any of the following is acceptable.

- Nerd option : open a notepad, note the map, 3 players name on your side and round the frag happens (dload the demo, directly after the pug, or 3 months later easy to find back with the current system)
- Finding the round is easily doable without reviewing the demo, you can check the specific rounds on each pug pages, so you can simply copy paste the link of said pug on a notepad or a file on (wL) website, with the specific round typed next to it.
- Otherwise download said demo and see at what round it happens.
- Or download said demo and note the exact tick of when the frag happens.

--- You do not have to download the demo if you are sure of the Quality, just send the pug link to me, or make a bank of pug links on a notepad files or something (to be sent 1 day) ---

Whatever option you used = send me through (wL) mail a (or multiple) specific demo link, with specific time span i need to review (Like for Reports).

I wont overrepresent myself, or my "friends", or the pro players, i plan on having a maximum of 3 clips per player to be sure to have a decent variety of frags/playstyle in the fragmovie. If you are 9.5 RWS and make something so crazy that even 20 rws players dont do, you will be in the fragmovie (eg : multiple kill with shotguns) !

If we want tournaments to be enjoyable/working on (wL), it needs some work that can't be done by non-staff people like me or Caillou, or anyone else who would want to organize something. And can't be done by server admins either.

First of all

1 : People don't show up, whatever if the schedules are planned between teams, or imposed by the organizer, or freaking voted, some people simply do not show up to matches. Which means their team is playing either with 2 subs, in 4vs5 or forfeit (90% of time). Which sucks for the handicaped team for obvious reasons, for the team facing them because they dont have a real match to prepare for the next ones and for everyone in general, because the more teams are forfeiting because people don't care, the less people will care and forfeit's will only increase from tournaments to tournaments (like we are experimenting right now).


1.1 : Delays in matches :

- Our fifth is coming, hes online, give us a minute ! ....... 40 mins later ...... he had to restart his pc ... .give us 2 mins .....

"- People got confused with the timeline they thought it was in 1 hour ....

- Our 5th is finishing a match in csgo ....

- He's coming home from work ... (why schedule when he cant play #facepalm)"

Whatever other type of excuses .... it should be irrelevant, aint there at said time ?

Forfeit. These are tournaments, 1 delay on 1 match and you delay all the other matches.

2 : These aren't real teams (1 of the reasons, point 1 exists), there was only 2 teams that sticked together from the first (wL) tournament to the last, 1 of these teams is dead (Gabe's) and the other 1 more or less swapped game (mine). That's an other reason people dont bother showing up, these aren't real teams that you practiced/scrimmed with for weeks to get better to the game, to participate in tourneys/league. These teams are based on 1 style of gaming, PUGS, there is little to no consequences for not showing up (like your teamate being angry at you, or you throwing 10$ out of the window).

Basically : People indirectly treat these like Pugs, because THEY ARE PUGS.

3 : Tournaments are a product stuck in developement hell :

Outside of changing the format a couple times, what was made to actually make the tournaments roll better ?

We don't keep track of players behaviors (like not showing up, or rquing in a match, or being a shit captain).

- Which could help prevent such things happening again (by not letting that guy being captains, or simply not letting toxic people participate anymore).

We still dont have separated stats from pug stats.

- Which is ridiculous since they are 2 completely different playstyle, it would be like if we didnt separate pugs from pubs stats. Or have the same stats for gungames and deathmatches.

We don't have a special title like tournaments organizers, that could give access to hidden threads (like banned people), or about tournaments formats, or about else.

- Which would be 100000 times more simple for people to organize stuff if it was a thing, since they would have access to intel on what worked and what didn't from the get go (and not repeating the same mistakes and less chances of making new 1's). And being able to discuss those seriously, without non-organizers interventions (admins or players).

We need a better way to publicize the tournaments, maybe automatic messages within the servers, because a lot of people dont pay attention to anything steam group related, spamming for a week in servers isnt efficient and making threads here where maybe 15% of the players come from time to time, simply do not work.

There should also be some kind competitive profile on this website, historic of teams with records and ending position. Teams needs to be "supported" by the website, there is little to not interests in making scrims, because teams aren't kept alive in between tournaments.

- We could do like ESEA and make it possible to join/leave teams on the website, see what other teams are still active/willing to play and organize scrims from that point on

- We could also organize mini-leagues like ESEA, but all the points previously mentionned would need to be adressed, ASAP

- Or simply make it a thing, that every week, there is a comp event, 4 teams, first come first served policy, drafts or not, and have fun with that. But again, everything else and more needs to be done to make it a thing.

Anyways, that was just my rant, ive lost interests in playings pugs. So swapped game (or trying to)

Scrims, Tournaments, Leagues are 1000 times more fun in my opinion, but for these to be a thing, we need to make at least these changes to our formula. Otherwise were gonna go from fuck ups to fuck ups like we are currently doing, lose interest and simply stop playing these (from 16 teams on the first 1, to 6 teams atm, with 2-3 teams not showing up at all).

Squadding with people used to make calls and play in a "team" is a lot more fun then with random people or playing solo Tongue

We can also use the wl teamspeak when it comes to communication, because other teams can hear us in the game, if they are close enough, which can be a problem obviously.

Also we never know how the game gonna end up at the ends of its developement, maybe there will be dedicated servers or the possibility to play competitive / league, so we never know !

1. "The Californian Grizzly Diskjokey"

- Play with an awp.
- Lurk everywhere.
- Wait for the enemy to push.
- Always play the gayest angles possible (where the enemy have little to no chances of getting you)
- Always stay behind teamates, let them take the risk.
- Never buy any other main guns, keep that money for an awp.
- Always try to be the last 1 alive for those precious clutch numbers and to be able to save.
- Worst case scenario leave when you suck dicks or have a too bad team.

2. "The 250th Frenchie"

- Play with the cheapest gun you are at ease with (Deagle, p228, p90, ak47)
- Rush/Sneak/Gay/Be passive everywhere, be extremely unpredictable.
- Get to the enemy first to get the most damage possible (all at full health).
- Always buy HE's to prenade (free adr) and other nades to fuck with the enemy.
- Rush first and get entry frags, so teamates have an easier time to get kills and win (Free RWS).
- Mostly Feed on the enemy for when it comes to big guns (except if rich).
- Never save except if you got an awp vs 4 and you are low hp (but always try to get a few kills).
- Stick on the server and make it an hard time for tryhards (sometimes you still get decent numbers), they will leave and you'll get the ez pug afterward.

3. "The Amnesiac High AF Baker"

- Leave (RQ) everytime you suck.
- Wait for good players to join in, then sub on their side.
- Profit.

4. "The Ultimate Best Wookie Strategies to Statswhore".

- Use any of the previously mentionned strategies and ...
- Go play in Asia if too high ping for Europe
- Go play in Europe if too high ping for Asia
