I had to use dx 81 instead of dx 95 because esea forces dx 81, but when I do css crashes when changing the server like I can only connect to one server if I try to change it later it crashes, any ideas why this is happening?

Are you on steam or non-steam?

If youre on steam, in your game library, look for css, right click it. Select Properties from the dropdown menu. On the General tab, hit Set Launch Options. Clear everything in it, and replace it with "-dxlevel 95".

Then go to your cstrike/cfg directory, open up autoexec(create one if you dont have it), add this in:
mat_dxlevel 95

Start CSS, it should work.

Read his post again, he needs to use 81 because of ESEA, I'm pretty sure my fix works fine, dx71 is pretty glitchy on some cards.

Right .Easy way to play CSS with dxlevel_81:

Go to your Counter Strike Source folder ,create a shortcut for hl2.exe ,right click on created shortcut - Proprieties - at Target should look like this: \Counter Strike Source\hl2.exe"
add this at end -steam -novid -game cstrike -dxlevel 81 .Finally should look like this :
\Counter Strike Source\hl2.exe" -steam -novid -game cstrike -dxlevel 81

WITH SPACE AFTER \Counter Strike Source\hl2.exe"

He's using legit CSS. I'm pretty sure it's not a problem of dx81, it's his computer.
