Evolution and Religion Can Coexist, Scientists Say
#5
silly Wrote:Yeah, theistic evolution; the idea that God created the process of evolution. The thing is that it contradicts the idea that God created us in exactly the same form that we are in now (i.e. the Adam and Eve story).

So if Adam and Eve never existed, and they did not "fall from grace", or lose complete innocence and commit the "original sin" by eating the apple from the tree of knowledge, then there doesn't seem to be a point to Jesus sacrificing himself for our "sin".

So with theistic evolution taking apart the whole point of Jesus Christ, where does that leave Christianity?

Just to play devils advocate,

Adam and Eve could have still existed even if evolution was the tool used to create them. Imagine you had a machine like a microwave, but it used evolution waves, and you could give it some guidelines of what you wanted and turn it on. God could have been sitting there for say, 6 whole 'god days' (time is relative), and then noticed his humans were finished cooking. He takes out the two things from the evowave oven, and names them Adam and Eve, tada. Sure, the humans may have been bacteria, fish, monkeys, neanderthals or whatever at some point in time, but they weren't "humans" simply untill god's evowave oven timer went off and they were declared finished.
"Most people think time is like a river, that flows swift and sure in one direction. But I have seen the face of time, and I can tell you, they are wrong. Time is an ocean in a storm."
