John Carmack Joins Oculus As CTO

Id Software cofounder, John Carmack has joined the Oculus Rift team as its new chief technology officer.

Carmack won’t leave his position at id Software. "John has long been interested in the work at Oculus VR and wishes to spend time on that project," a Bethesda spokesperson explained. "The technical leadership he provides for games in development at id Software is unaffected."

On the other hand, an Oculus spokesperson affirmed that, "[Carmack] is full time at Oculus VR."

This is a huge step for the small company, which not only puts it on a completely new level, but it holds great promise to what Carmack can bring to the table.
