steam validation rejected? i hear some people are getting this when they try and connect to the server :\ my friends want to play on wL

Make sure intrusion detection is off, if you have it.
Create a file in your root Steam folder, named steam_appid.txt. Add '240' and try. I believe this is correct, if not, try '440'.
