Alright, I have had my first two days go with the Oculus Rift, and I have to say the thing is more immersive than I had anticipated.

To get straight to it.

Half Life 2 which is a fully supported Oculus Rift game, has been absolutely amazing. Not only feels like you are playing, but whenever you get chased by those white masked freaks you really feel like you want to get the hell out of there. Jumping off of roof tops is a scary feeling especially when you look down..

Gun control feels amazing, and is beyond words. Only thing missing is the actual feel of holding a gun and you got yourself the full experience.

You have to take a break every 45 mins or so because of the brain gets literally exhausted from thinking it is in this new world.

For a second comparison there is a DEMO out of you being dropped out in the middle of woods during night with only a flash light. Your "mission" is to get the fuck out of the woods. Pitch black with only a flash light to guide you are walking around there in the middle of this pitch black shit, and hear all these strange noises...you come upon a house, and you enter it. Now literally your heart is pounding like mad because your mind is going "fucking get out this is the Blair Witch house idiot"... ofc I keep going .. until the flash light suddenly stops functioning, and there you are trying beat the flash light back to functionality, and when it does work again... a young girl face covered with pitch black hair is standing there in front of you... and YES your brain is melting by now, and you are kind of freaking out!

Immersivness level: 9.5/10
Graphics: 7/10 (Because of the prototype having a screendoor effect, which will be removed when they release it)


A few questions that seem to pop into people's head about this.

Q) Can it be used to navigate windows, other games, etc?
A) Yes, a thirdparty software enables you to take control of any software and play with in the Oculus Rift. It is pretty bad ass.

Q) Can it play movies etc.
A) There are currently 3 softwares that play every kind of movie there is, for some reason I don't know how to get the 3D function going, but you can watch movies normally using these softwares. There was just a software called "Cinema Experience" released, which is a world you enter, sit down like a real cinema, and have your eyes feast upon the movie of choice, and yes it works with porn! :eek:
