It’s not really needed... As some words can be hateful, or funny depending on the context its used on... We have Admin’s on the servers who take care of the ones who abuse the “free speech " we have going on in the servers.

wabbit said there was a thread, guessing this was it?

I'd really like to see the world filter on the forums NOT go on the game servers. Many of us play CS:S as a game to relax on, and yes on occasion, we use profanity. I mean it's a M game, technically you're supposed to be an adult to play. I don't see a problem with dropping the F-bomb when you had a great opportunity and managed to F' it up. Admins are present on the server, and can clean up any messes or problems that may occur.

I mean, I understand where people are coming from with the harmful or hateful words, and while it is a problem, I don't see it as a significant one. Rarely do we have someone dropping F-bombs x100, and insane profanity, and if we do see them, we warn 'em, and kick 'em. I don't typically see anyone ever in the servers doing such a thing. While there are servers that restrict profanity & do kick for any usage of profanity, I believe that they typically suffer from a different type of community, as well as a lesser activity among the adults of such a community.

I'd also like to point out that it IS the Internet. Don't take anything too seriously should be a staple rule to go by and something that everyone doing anything on the Internet. If you're truly offended, let someone know and they can take care of the problem.

Finally, if we're going to move the filter to the servers, I request that porn sprays also be taken into account. I'd much prefer seeing a player drop multiple F-bombs in a row, then 5+ porn sprays in a row. Not only is it a bad influence on the under 18 members, it's rather annoying to have half your team staring at the picture and not doing anything. Call me homosexual, or whatever you want, doesn't affect me, but it doesn't seem right to take out profanity, but allow players to post porn all over the map. It's distasteful, more offensive towards female players, and distracts many players from the game, which is something I consider a greater problem then a swear filter.

Edit: Wrong thread, whoops.

I'd also like to say it's going to be harder to regulate. Are we allowed to swear over the mic? What happens then? What happens on the various filter bypasses one can do with spaces, underscores, stars, slashes?

I agree with the concept that an M rated game should allow profanity.  Technically, isn't "online play" not regulated by the ESRB?

I've been wanting to do this because it's hard to follow threads with censors...  The following is a test of profanity and other offensive words: "fuck" "bitch" "ass" "asshole" "shit" "gay" "fag" "faggot" "jew" "nigger" "rape" "noob" "sissy" "pussy" "dick" "fucker" "piss" "boobies" "penis"
