cs:s server constant lag spikes
#21
I'd say that I experience the same kind of situational lag as Anubis. It's not really a problem when there are less than 20 people on the server, but any more and it can get kinda choppy.

Did anyone read what I wrote when he posted his netgraph? I want to know if I got it right Tongue
If you read this, you suck.

lagging or sudden drop in fps happens fa me mostly whn there are about 35+ people on the server which is understandable as i live in india and the servers are located light years away from me , but what bothers me is that my shots dont register frequently(i dunno if the former explanation holds true for this as well )  , i hit some one with the awp on the upper body , he scoots away with 100 hp Sad .  i dunno if this is a problem at my end or server side or a combination of both . as i said earlier my comp specs are decent ( amd phenom , 4gb ram , 1 gb dedicated gfx card ) and should be able to run css easily on any settings ( i use fairly low settings too ) . i have a 16mbps connection ( which is probably the highest where i live ) . i cancel all updates b4 i start css usually . is there anything i should be doing differently to get better reg .?

no offense, but i'm not convinced it's my connection. I'm ocd enough that i can tell when i'm lagging because i start to stutter; these lag spikes are more severe and are more flatout freezing for several seconds, and/or, while running, bouncing back to where i was a moment ago.

these spikes almost never happen when server pop is less than 14+ per side.

could there be some kind of blocking process on the server? Rotating logs? Defrag process? Reporting stats to GameMe? Reporting stats to valve?

thank you for being so attentive to this, by the way.

Since you posted those netgraph screenies, I don't think anyones blaming you for the lag.

Did you read what I thought it could be? I think the roots are looking into this as well. I have been keeping my eye out for these spikes as well, but I seem to miss them.

Just sit tight for a little, I'm sure one of the roots will reply soon. For the moment, you can just keep an eye on the lag.

Hey guys I'm trying to track this issue down. It looks like it could be a network problem on our hosts side.

When you experience these problems can you do a tracert of the servers IP's with the time it happened (Los Angeles time preferred)

To do a tracert open up a CMD prompt and type "tracert <server ip>", then right click and go select all and press enter to copy.

apparently i am cursed; just now (2011-09-13 - 931p pacific) i signed on to popular maps 2 and within 2 rounds, the server is suffering more lag spikes/pauses than ever before.

here's a tracert output from... right now:

Code:

Trace complete.

interestingly, if you google for asn3549-glbx.eqlaca.sbcglobal.net the very first result is a forum posting from 2011-05-24 complaining about this very same address.
