What is this for?
Your MAC address is your computers social security number, when you go online you have to request an ip address with your mac address. So your mac address is permanent and every time you go online your service provider tracks what you do with that.
If you can spoof it and you get caught for pirating software they would have to connect the mac address with the computer, in that case it wouldn't match and you would bypass the system

Is this a permanent mac address change or just when you run the application?

I used to connect to a local public network and download all kinds of stuff because their connection was faster, but now for some reason I can not connect! Do you think changing the mac address would change that??
