The boy who sees without eyes
#11
Unique ability and near impossible to achieve hearing abilities. A physical and sensory skill yes.
I'd like to see how he thinks, practically, social, politically. I'd like to ask him, what do you have to offer society, other than just some one time newstory to distract that despairing public?
He is gifted, very gifted, but then... he impresses me only to the extent that people like him are extremely rare in society and history.
My reason here that im not totally impressed, is that Master Swordsmen Like Musashi Miyamoto(and dont come to and talk to me about him until you read his book), people who study various forms of Martial Arts, even the peaceful Buddhist monks, have the same ability without having to make any noise. People like them are so in tune with the environment, their surroundings, the people, that they can hear and equate where things are and what are those things and much more exactness, without having to make noise, and if they had to, without a visual understanding of it.This kid would be a very useless swordsman.
Then, theres the fact that is What does he want to be? where does he see himself, and why? They didn't explain that in the vid. His ability is only the tip of a much larger mental awareness and physical awareness he could achieve, he may have a partial understanding of it now. The fact that these scientists call trying to recognize a small circular tube the "outer limit" is really dumb on their part.
What a human mind can achieve is infinite, people continually limit themselves by setting an artificial societal standard, or a mental barrier by saying to themselves something's "impossible", Or by calling things a "limit." Potentially here is an eye opener that society most likely will neglect to fully account as someone who has no limits, and is infinite. He isnt God, for no one can be God. Also likely, people around him will tell him he has met some kind of standard, or is a "perfection" at his ability, and he potentially in his future, will limit himself in some way.

Yang: If you're going to have a scientific perspective (the evidenced perspective), the human mind is finite/limited (restricted by our brain and its neurons). And yes, they did focus on his "ability" because that's what the short documentary was actually about. The fact is that his talent is remarkable, it's not impossible, but it's very rare and interesting. Of course he wouldn't be a good swordsman, but that's not relevant at all. Also yang, there are such things as "impossible boundaries" or "limits". A person cannot literally fly with only their body and nor can they cannot naturally jump 20 metres into the air (from a regular surface). There is a "limit" to how high they can jump, there is a "limit" to how far we can see, and similarly, to how sensitive and distinguished our sense of hearing is. The psychologist wanted to figure out what this boy's limits were in terms of his hearing so that they could better understand his ability. I'd be willing to bet that Miyamoto wasn't able to use a biological form of sonar to navigate around.

Now your being an ass silly.
Does that look like a scientific perspective to you? I was trying to talk about a more spiritual perspective, but apparently it doesn't prevent someone from going on an angry tirade.

Do you just assume that if someone disagrees with you, they must be angry?
I'm not angry o_O There is zero evidence for any "spiritual perspective". I'm not at all being an ass, I'm simply stating the truth. And no, that's your psychological reaction to what I said, in which you misidentify the probable truth, my mood, and my intentions. You'd think that "evidence" would be important to everyone, but no, some people just want to blindly believe in bizarre things. Either that, or because they don't understand something, they superstitiously assume that there must be a great multitude of supernatural explanations for it's occurrence. If you think there's any evidence for what you're saying, make in plainly known (if it is indeed genuine evidence then I'll straight away concede that you have a point).

The ancient Egyptians believed that their sun-god Ra carried the sun across the sky on the back of a chariot. The Chinese believed that the Earth rested on the back of a gargantuan turtle, while the Hindus instead believed it was a humongous elephant. Europeans used to believe that to yawn without your hand covering your mouth would let your soul go free out of your body. But that's all just nonsense right? Christians used to believe that Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, that Noah had billions of species of animals in his ark, that women were created from a man's rib, and that a whole city of people were converted into pillars of salt (oh wait, heaps of them still do believe all of those things, lol). There's a lot of integrity, free-thought, and intelligence associated with critically questioning your beliefs and searching for the genuine truth, try it.

I've been doing martial arts for years and I can tell you that all that fantasy stuff is bullshit. Don't believe everything you see on National Geographic. Like this:

These kind of things may work in movies, but they would get whooped in the UFC.

When someone loses one of his 5 senses his other senses becomes stronger in order for him to adapt its like a survivor instinct, that is because when you lose one sense your brain can focus better on the other senses.
In his case he uses sound waves to know whats in front of him just like a bat its a sonar like thing he can determine the distance and direction to the object like the gap between the two cars, but still he doesnt see i could say the title isnt 100% correct.

He could be like daredevil the only time daredevil could see the faces of other people is when it rains he might be the same if he uses the sound of the rain drops idk but it could be Rolleyes

You're absolutely right Assassin Wink And yeah, he doesn't quite "see", he "senses".
