If you don't plan on overclocking, you don't need an unlocked processor.

If you're playing CS, the 960 would be fine but if you wanna play more demanding games at max settings.. I'd get something like the 970.

Personally I think 16GB is an overkill but idk I play very few games other than CS..

Looks nice but 2 things.

Are you planning to overclock this CPU heavily? Otherwise a liquid CPU cooler is a bit over the top. You could either just go for a aftermarket heatsink w/fan or just use the stock cooler that comes with it.

The other thing is the soundcard. Most motherboards come with onboard audio and the motherboard you picked has "WORLD'S BEST ONBOARD HI-FI GAMING AUDIO". So would the soundcard really be needed?

Also I can recommend getting a 144hz monitor. I got one 1 week ago and they are amazing to play games on : )

that's what i was thinking on the overkill.... so i was scared to put it in. my homework said the build the ultimate gaming pc for what you use it for.... thus my weariness about the word ULTIMATE reflects... The thing is I stream twitch. and yes we really do not need much on css since it really is an outdated game. but i am just going with the industry bare minimum high end. So i am at a lost of chosing to hear my teacher said "ultimate" versus "what you use it for" Tongue

i could put an excuse that i MIGHT just use it for other newer games in the future
but really i love css forever

I really am not planning to. My dilemma is her homework specified to build ULTIMATE GAMING pc on the GAMES you use it for, She probably isnt banking on the fact that i play an outdated game

YUP.. i did put in cheap monitor since I already overspend.... so thanks for the tip... I might do the changes you guys specified. I will tone it down JUST a little bit on cooling and maybe processor

I would  recommend that i7 would be good with gaming.Core i7 processors have larger cache (on-board memory) to help the processor deal with repetitive tasks faster.Larger cache sizes help with multitasking as well, since background tasks will be ready for when you switch focus to another window. i5 CPUs have 3MB to 6MB of L3 cache, while i7 processors have 4MB to 8MB. So i take the best as i7 for running Anything, heavy games,Office 2016,Anything .i5 if fine but not fine as i7. But its apart from your budget. You can get it if u can save money in Headsets, keyboard, fans and mainly Sound Card! These things are not needed to be the best for gaming. but it should be fine.
