Resolved  OwnageHN Ban Appeal (2)
#1
Dear War-Lords,

Note that I posted a similar appeal here 3 months ago: http://war-lords.net/protests/ownage-hn-ban-appeal/

I, Ownage.HN (STEAM_0:0:3304193), was banned permanently by an unknown admin from your 173.231.20.18:27015 CS:S server (#2 Full Rotation) about 15 minutes ago during de_nuke. There was no reason given before the ban nor was there a reason given after.  I've played in many servers over the years and I wasn't breaking any of the common rules (e.g. racism, spamming, porn sprays, etc.)

Even though there was no reason given for the ban, I'm sure this ban wasn't a mistake. The only reason that I would have been banned was for cheating. As you all know, it is virtually impossible to prove that I don't cheat, and it's virtually impossible to prove that I do cheat. There are few exceptions to this, of course. If I was running around faster than possible (speed hacking) killing everyone with headshots (aimbot) within 20 seconds after each round start, I am clearing cheating. However, I wasn't doing this. I wouldn't have lasted more than 2 rounds if this was the case. In fact, I lasted about 5 map rounds before my ban.

After being an admin of my own server for a couple of years back when Source first came out, I can easily go into the perspective of most admins of other servers. Since I wasn't doing anything obvious, like my cursor bobbing up and down like I had anti-recoil on, or following people through walls, I am assuming that this particular admin that banned me figured I was "toggling" my wall hacks or being very subtle with them. Before I was banned, some people may have thought that I "knew where everyone was." I am not cheating, so let me tell you all of the ways I figure where people are at.

First of all, I've played cs_nuke for hundreds of rounds. I can probably recreate the entire map to scale in Hammer. Anyway, I can predict where most people will go. That sounds a little sketchy but you won't understand what I mean unless you play video games a lot.

Secondly, I use my sound wisely. I have a headset. I use surround sound which means I can pretty much pin point where people are at just by sound. I mute people that talk too much, especially while I'm alive. I pay attention to footsteps, bullets hitting the wall, reloads, explosions, fire fights, etc.

Thirdly, I use my radar wisely. If your teammate sees a bad guy, he appears on your radar. I won't go into any more detail.

Lastly, I pay attention to the scoreboard and where the bomb goes down.  If there's one person left and I hear footsteps around where I last saw the bomb, I basically know where the last person is at.  If I'm covering one bomb site and I didn't see him, I know that he's going to the other bomb site.  Basically, I have common sense with reason by deduction.

Ultimately, this post ran a little longer than I expected it to. I made the assumption that I was banned for wall hacking, or cheating of some sort, so please don't use that against me. "e.g. HE ASSUMED WE THOUGHT HE WAS HACKING HE MUST BE GUILTY!!!" Furthermore, you can tell that I'm a pretty experienced gamer with common sense. I hope that even though I can't prove to you that I'm not cheating (and you can't prove that I do, either!), my merit will guide your opinions toward 'not guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.'

Thank you for reading!

Best Regards,
OwnageHN

Hello,

I was one of the Admins present, and the one who banned you. I played about 2-3 maps with you, and then began to spec/demo you for the entire Nuke map. There were several people watching you play, including another Admin Loks. While you are skilled, some of your rounds were what I believe to be wall hacking especially close to the end. If you are wrongfully accused, you will get your fair share of additional admins to review this demo.

I've reviewed the demo.  I noticed Loks wondered how I "knew he was there" on top of the roof.  First of all, I didn't know he was there prior to seeing him there.  I always check that spot when I first go on top of the roof.  Everyone should.  I pretty much check every corner when rushing because an enemy could be there waiting for me, hence what happened.  The round later, I pretty much did the same procedure.  I checked the spot again.  If you have recorded me before, you would notice that I check that spot every time I rush outside from CT to kill AFK/camping Ts.  I tried to explain this in my ban appeal:

I know players like what you are claiming to be (checking known places)... and I am actually one of them... But if you ever spec me, I check every single spot, every time... Yet you pass VERY well known places, a whole bunch during the demo...

I don't understand this.  Please only comment if you are contributing to the conversation.  Just by saying in all capitals "POSITIVE!" does not confirm anything.  "[First] shot" is ambiguous.  Are you talking about at the very beginning of the demo where I peaked out to get the auto snipe and saw a terrorist in the slit between the box and "twinkie?"  When I peaked out towards that spot [from a different location] and the terrorist was magically still there?  I didn't even peak out with my crosshair perfectly on his head.  You can tell I'm a bit rusty at picking from that spot.

Which VERY well known places?

Edit:  I just rewatched the demo and saw that I checked every corner that could have held an enemy at the time.  If there is 1 enemy left and I know he is at spawn, I'm not going to check every single corner because I know that the last person is in spawn.  Furthermore, I have a 16:9 monitor so even though my crosshair doesn't check each corner, the edges of my monitor do.

Loks, please don't be offended.  I understand you're from Brazil and English is probably not your native language.  I'm just altering your grammar so you and I are talking about the same thing.

Quote:Wow, that first shot he gave behind the box is clear for me and if you look, he tried another kill behind the same box!!! and before he got me hiding up there, he gave a look to the wall (like he was checking if somebody was there) look with r_drawothermodels 2!!

"[That] first shot" is ambiguous.  I'm not sure which shot you're talking about.  If you're talking about what i-spy said, I cleared that up.

"[Before] he got me hiding up there, he gave a look to the wall (like he was checking if somebody was there)" Which wall are you talking about?  Like I said before, I was checking to see if anyone was on top of the roof likes I always do.  Furthermore, since I always check that spot, I don't always see an enemy up there.  Because of this habit of not seeing people there every time, you can see that I got a little surprised when I jumped up there and saw 2 terrorists and subsequently missed my first shot.

As much as I feel 1 or 2 points in the demo may seem suspicious has hell, those kills were possible without hacks.
The roof kills especially. Any decent player on CT rushing would check that place on roof since it's a common spot for Ts to camp in pubs.
I'm going to rule an inconclusive on this one. For me, there's not beyond reasonable doubt that the player in question is wallhacking.
Certain points are suspicious, but the demo isn't 100% certain.
