If you're not seeing shadows even with a flash light, you probably have the settings disabled.

Pretty sure he doesn't hack. He was camping and prescoping on smee tower, just walked up next to him and killed him, he just prescopes.

You may need nightvision enabled along with flashlight. We can't see whether he was cheating from your perspective.
